iKON debuts in Japan in January next year… Holding arena tour in February

iKON will create iKON sensation in Japan, by making debut in the country and holding an arena tour in February next year.

iKON will release their debut album in Japan in January next year. Along with the release of an album, the team will meet local fans by holding their first Japan arena tour “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016” in February. The tour will be the first-ever concert tour of iKON in Japan, and will have total nine concerts in three cities including Tokyo Budokan, a city called the Mecca of concerts in Japan, to draw total 95,000 fans.

iKON have already met Japanese fans in a fan meeting held in Osaka as a part of the global fan meeting of Mnet’s “MIX & MATCH” show last year. As many as 40,000 local fans applied for participation in the fan meeting held at Osaka Tojima River Forum that can accommodate 2,000 people, which proved iKON’s big recognition and popularity in Japan even before their official debut.

After that, iKON performed at the opening stage of BIGBANG’s Japan five dome tour “BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2014-2015 ‘X’”, to take part in the mega-scale tour which held 15 concerts in five cities to draw total 740,000 people of audience. By accumulating experiences of performing for such large-scale tour which is exceptional even for top singers, iKON began to build a strong fandom in Japan.

With such an explosive popularity iKON has enjoyed in Japan from even before their debut, iKON will meet local fans first before their official debut in the country scheduled for January next year. Japan fan meeting “iKON FAN MEETING 2015 IN JAPAN – iKONTACT” will be held 12 times from the 10 this month in Tokyo, Aichi, Fukuoka, and Osaka, to meet total 26,600 fans. It is known that total 200,000 fans applied for participation in the event which can accommodate only 26,600 people, proving iKON’s high popularity in the country.

Such popularity of iKON is standing under a big spotlight from the country’s media. Japan’s major media outlets such as Sports Hochi, Nikkan Sports, Sankei Sports, Sports Nippon, Chunichi Sports, and Daily Sports came to iKON’s debut concert “SHOWTIME” held on the 3 at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall in Seoul. After the end of the concert, those media outlets made headlines with titles such as “iKON debuts in Japan in January, holding arena tour in February”, “Rising K-pop star iKON held their enthusiastic first-ever concert”, etc., drawing a big attention from local people.

Meanwhile, iKON has swept the No.1 on music charts in and out of the country with debut warm-up single “MY TYPE” and debut half album “WELCOME BACK”. Their debut concert “SHOWTIME” held on the 3 electrified 13,000 fans, achieving a big success. Plus, iKON received the No.1 trophy with “MY TYPE” in SBS “INKIGAYO” for two weeks in a row, to prove their high popularity once again.
