[Exclusive] iKON Arrives at LAX on Oct. 5 for Their New Album

iKON’s fans in the US posted pictures of iKON arriving at LAX Airport on the Internet. YG Entertainment gave no definite answer as to why they went to the US and said, “They’re probably there for the new album. Don’t really know the details.”

On October 4, after winning another trophy on SBS’s Inkigayo, iKON said, “Thank you very much. I’m so happy we’ve got this amazing trophy on our first TV appearance. Thank you to the fans and to staff at YG. We’ll work harder.”

iKON’s “MY TYPE” became No. 1 on the charts for two weeks in a row winning against Kyung Park’s “Ordinary Love” and Gary’s “Get Some Air”. It is a remarkable record given that iKON is only a rookie, but what’s more surprising is that they only made a single TV appearance and that “MY TYPE” is not even the title track but just a “warm-up single”.

Their debut is surely successful in terms of chart results but what we need to focus on is their talent. They have proved that they got what it takes to go on stage and showed that they have been working hard for two years since they lost in the survival show “WIN.”

The two title tracks of their new album are totally different. “AIRPLANE” is a hip hop song that portrays soft, melancholy feelings with a touch of sadness. iKON members perform the song in comfortable casual wear brining freshness to the stage.

Meanwhile, iKON will debut in Japan in January next year and will start their arena tour in February. After releasing their album in February, iKON will kick off “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016” and meet their fans in Japan. The tour will be iKON’s first tour in Japan. They will hold nine concerts in three cities, including a concert at Nippon Budokan – the most popular spot for live concerts in Japan. Their concerts are expected to draw about 95,000 people.

iKON is getting a lot of press coverage in Japan. Reporters from Sports Hochi, Nikkan Sports, Sankei Sports, Junichi Sports, Sports Nippon, and Daily Sports came to Korea to see and write about iKON’s concert “SHOWTIME” on October 3.

After the concert, they wrote favorable articles about iKON under the titles of “iKON will debut in Japan in January and have an arena tour in February” and “a rising k-pop star, iKON, an enthralling debut concert”.

iKON’s warm-up single “MY TYPE” and debut half album “WELCOME BACK”, which were released last month, are sweeping the charts both in and out of Korea. Their debut concert was also a tremendous success attracting around 13, 000 fans.
