iKON sings “Charts’ Type” (feat. “Kicking through the Roof”)

 iKON’s “MY TYPE” is the perfect type for fans as well as for charts.
iKON took the No.1 on Korea’s major music-streaming websites within one hour of the release of their debut song “MY TYPE” on the 15 at midnight. It is not just No.1 place on charts. iKON also recorded “kicking through the roof” (which refers to a song going beyond the range of statistics in terms of real-time streaming volume) on charts, making their No.1 on charts all the more notable.
iKON has made debut two years after they first presented themselves in Mnet’s “MIX & MATCH” show in 2013. The very first move of the team is sensational, which shows that the team has evolved and grown a lot as an artist for the past two years.

iKON’s No.1 and “kicking through the roof” on charts upon their debut has significant meaning in different aspects. For the past three weeks, music-streaming websites have been dominated by the songs of MBC’s “The Infinite Challenge” and Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 4”. The fact that iKON who has just made their debut beat those songs is worthwhile noting.

Plus, the fact that iKON did not lose the competition with other top singers such as Fly to the Sky and CNBLUE and rather showed bigger influence on charts also has a significant meaning.

The time of the release of iKON’s debut song was when songs performed in popular TV shows and songs of other popular idol groups were drawing a big popularity. The songs of popular TV shows were dominating charts and popular singers were rushing to come back. Nevertheless, iKON set the record of “kicking through the roof” and “sweeping top places on charts”, when the competition for the No.1 on charts was fiercer than ever.

Such success of the monstrous rookie iKON is expected to go on. Following the release of warm-up single “MY TYPE”, iKON will release an album on October 1 and in November as well. Now that iKON has proven their influence in the music scene with the warm-up release, the entire music scene will pay keen attention to the records to be set by iKON from now on.

Meanwhile, iKON will hold debut concert “SHOWTIME” at the Olympic Gymnastics Hall with as many as 10,000 seats, on the 3 next month. It is a very rare case for a rookie idol singer who have just made their debut to hold a concert at such a large hall with 10,000 seats. That would not have been possible if the team did not have sufficient talent and skills which is shown by the fact that their full album to be released in November will be filled with songs written by the members themselves.

iKON will release “DEBUT HALF ALBUM ‘WELCOME BACK’” on October 1 and “DEBUT FULL ALBUM ‘WELCOME BACK’” on November 2, to begin their performances in earnest.
