iKON confirmed their appearance in “Seoul Music Awards”, targeting “grand slam of rookie awards” from all major music awards
Rookie boy group iKON (B.I, KIM JINHWAN, BOBBY, SONG YUNHYEONG, JU-NE, KIM DONGHYUK, and JUNG CHANWOO) is targeting grand slam of rookie awards in all major music awards in Korea.
iKON has long confirmed their appearance in the “25th Seoul Music Awards” to be held for three hours from 7pm on January 14, 2016, at Olympic Gymnastics Arena of Seoul Olympic Park (hosted by Sports Seoul, organized by Seoul Music Awards Organizing Committee). iKON is thought to be the strongest nominee for the rookie award in that awards that will present highlights of the music world for the year 2015.
iKON created sensation upon their official debut with warm-up single “MY TYPE” in September this year, taking No.1 on a variety of music charts and TV music shows. iKON consolidated their big presence as a “monstrous rookie” by holding a debut concert in October at Olympic Gymnastics Arena, one of the biggest concert halls in Korea. The team proved their enormous potential by selling out all the 13,000 tickets upon the opening of the ticket sale for the debut concert. iKON also swept No.1 on major music charts with “DUMB&DUMBER” and “WHAT’S WRONG?”, the double title tracks of the debut full album released recently, as well as “I MISS YOU SO BAD” also included in the album.
Based on their overwhelming success and big achievements made during this year, iKON swept the rookie of the year award in the 2015 Melon Music Awards and 2015 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards).
iKON is the most promising nominee for the rookie award of “The 25th Seoul Music Awards” to be held in January next year, Golden Disc Awards (Jan. 20-21, 2016, Shenzhen Bay Sports Stadium), as well as the “2015 Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” (Feb. 17, 2016, Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium, Seoul). If iKON actually takes the rookie prize from all those music awards, iKON will record a grand slam of the rookie awards.
Meanwhile, iKON will hold their second concert “iKONCERT 2016 SHOWTIME TOUR IN SEOUL” on January 30 and 31 at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in the Olympic Park, Seoul. The first and second ticket sale will open on January 6 and 7 at 8pm, respectively.
