YG's boygroup iKON begins full-fledged promotion for their debut album released in Japan today (Jan. 13).
iKON releases their debut album in Japan on the day, beginning local promotion in earnest. The album includes two discs that have 12 songs in Korean and 13 songs in Japanese. Notably, landmark buildings in Japan and large buses wrapped with iKON’s faces and the jacket of their album are drawing big attention.
Plus, iKON is drawing all the more attention as they will hold special events on the 22 at Toyos PIT in Tokyo and on the 23 at Tojima River Forum in Osaka, to more closely communicate with fans. The team will also carry out a variety of media promotions.
iKON has already proven their big popularity in Japan by attracting 26,600 people to their fan meeting tour “iKON FAN MEETING 2015 IN JAPAN iKONTACT” held in October last year, before their official debut. The 12 fan meetings were held in Aichi, Fukuoka, Osaka, and other cities. In February this year, iKON will hold arena concert tour in Japan.
iKON’s arena tour “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016” was supposed to begin on February 11 at Fukuoka International Center, to continue on February 15 to 16 at Tokyo Nihon Budokan and February 21 and 21 at Kobe World Memorial Hall, to draw 95,000 people to nine concerts in three cities. However, because of local fans’ strong requests, five concerts were added to the tour, including two concerts on March 12 at Makuhari Messe Event Hall, one concert on March 13 at the same hall, and then two concerts on March 15 at Osakajyo Hall. The scale of the tour has been expanded as such, to attract 146,000 people to total 14 concerts in five cities, which is drawing a big attention.
iKON enjoyed big popularity last year, releasing singles including “MY TYPE”, “RHYTHM TA”, “APOLOGY” and “DUMB&DUMBER”, and then a mini-album and full album. Now, music fans are paying keen attention to what kind of success they will achieve in Japan.
Meanwhile, iKON will hold their second concert “iKON – iKONCERT 2016 ‘SHOWTIME TOUR” on January 30 and 31 at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Olympic Park, Seoul. Then, iKON will continue to actively perform in both Korea and Japan.
