iKON is coming back “again” with new song “WHAT’S WRONG?”

On the 18 in the morning, YG Entertainment (“YG”) announced on the company’s official blog that the title track of iKON’s debut full album will be “WHAT’S WRONG?”. This year, iKON released “MY TYPE” on September 15, “RHYTHM TA” on October 1, and “WHAT’S WRONG?” on November 16. The outcome has been very successful. The team received the rookie of the year award in Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. iKON’s success will culminate with the release of “WHAT’S WRONG?”, the title track of their debut full album.

iKON’s new releases from September this year are not unrelated with YG’s recent strategy of “dividing an album into pieces”. BIGBANG released “MADE” series and dominated the music scene during the second half of this year. BIGBANG will release the final full album of the series, to round off their “MADE” series that was just like a big festival.

A music industry insider said, “If an artist releases a full album and then wraps up performances for the album after performing for only one or two songs, the album is too short-lived. All YG songs have high quality, to an extent that all songs can be seen as title tracks. I think that is why YG is taking that approach of exposing and introducing new songs as much and long as possible. Notably, for rookie idol groups like iKON, it is very important to have an opportunity to appeal themselves to fans consistently. iKON’s marketing has been very aggressive, and the outcome looks satisfying as every single album has recorded bit success”.

iKON’s new song to be unveiled next is known to be a fast-paced and intense rock music, which is different from songs that iKON has released so far. iKON presented a new rock version of “RHYTHM TA” on the stage of “MMA” for this year. The new song is also written by B.I and BOBBY, the key members of iKON. The album will be released on-line on the 24 at 0 o’clock and the off-line album will be released on the 24 as well.

iKON is now shooting the music video of “WHAT’S WRONG?” in Seoul for three days. As the date of the album’s release has been postponed because of “WHAT’S WRONG?” and YG wants to create the music video of this song even though it causes a big cost, the song must be one in which the members put much effort. So, people are very much looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, iKON’s new songs and a full-album will be released on the 24 this month, on the Christmas Eve. iKON’s member B.I and BOBBY will appear in SBS TV’s “I Love Sunday – Running Man” show to be aired on the 20, to show off their wits and meet TV viewers.
