iKON is “true idol” That Will Take Over K-Pop Scene

Was there ever a time when the debut of a new band grabbed so much attention? The seven-member boy group iKON has revealed their unique debut plans. “expected to rock the charts from September till November”

According to YG Entertainment (YG), iKON will become the next BIGBANG, and so expectations are running high.

At 11 AM on September 8, YG announced on its official blog, “iKON will be releasing their six new songs on September 15 and the latter half of the album on October 1. They will officially debut with the release of their regular album on November 2.”
This is indeed a shocking way to debut. They are a rookie just about to officially step into the music business, and they are releasing their album in halves. The first part of the album will be released first and 15 days later, the other half. They will be releasing their full regular album after a whole month. They wouldn’t have been able to choose such a unique way to debut if they are not confident about the album.

This is also the way their “senior” BIGBANG had promoted their album. From May to August, BIGBANG released two singles every month. With their eight new singles including “LOSER” and “BAE BAE”, BIGBANG swept not only the charts of music-streaming sites but also those of TV shows.

Such unique debut plan shows how much effort YG has been putting into iKON. By releasing singles from September till November, they are hoping to take not only the No.1 spot on the charts but win awards at the end of the year.

BOBBY, B.I, KOO JUNHOE, SONG YUNHYEONG, KIM DONGHYUK, KIM JINHWAN were TEAM B in the survival show “WIN” – which ended in October 2013. In the show, TEAM B lost to TEAM A and blew their chance to debut. After that, they competed once again with new trainees in a new survival show called “MIX & MATCH.” JUNG CHANWOO joined them, and they were reborn as the seven-member group that they are now.

TEAM A debuted as WINNER last year. Their hit song “EMPTY” was actually written by iKON’s B.I. B.I is a talented musician and is expected to become the next GD. With him leading the team, iKON is expected to become another “YG monster rookie”.

iKON’s extraordinary debut plan demonstrates how confident they are about their debut album. Earlier on, YANG HYUN SUK – the CEO of YG – explained why he give TEAM B the name iKON saying, “the correct spelling is icon but I wanted them to become so successful that they represent K-pop, so I changed the “C” to “K”.”

The “true idol” that will open a new chapter in K-pop history has appeared.
